The NI PXIe-5665 is a modular, three-stage superheterodyne analyzer that you can use both as a spectrum analyzer and a vector signal analyzer to perform signal measurements over a frequency range from 20 Hz to 3.6 GHz/14 GHz with options for 25 MHz and 50 MHz of instantaneous bandwidth. This new RF instrument has exceptionally low phase noise of -129 dBc/Hz at a 10 kHz offset at 800 MHz, an average noise level of -165 dBm/Hz, a third-order intercept point of +24 dBm, and absolute amplitude accuracy of 0.10 dB.
This modular instrument comprises a new NI PXIe-5603 or PXIe-5605 downconverter, the NI PXIe-5653 local oscillator (LO) synthesizer, and the NI PXIe-5622 IF digitizer. An NI PXIe-5603/05 uses the low-phase noise LOs produced by the NI PXIe-5653 to downconvert RF signals to an IF frequency that is then digitized by the 16-bit, 150 MS/s NI PXIe-5622 IF digitizer. An NI PXIe-5603/05 is equipped with an optional preamp to improve noise figures as well as a switched filter bank that allows further optimization of the system IP3 to make difficult measurements, such as adjacent channel power ratio (ACPR). With this flexible, modular architecture, you can daisy chain the LO outputs from an NI PXIe-5603/05 to additional NI PXIe-5603/05 downconverters for phase-coherent signal acquisition applications such as multiple input, multiple output (MIMO) systems.
The NI PXIe-5605 14 GHz downconverter also features an optional 45 MHz preselector above 3.6 GHz. You can use the preselector for image-free spectrum sweeps and signal intelligence.
