The NI RMC-8354 is a 1U rack-mount controller for PXI- or PXI Express-based systems. It features an Intel Core i7-860 quad-core processor with 2.8 GHz base clock frequency and 3.46 GHz single-core turbo frequency. The RMC-8354 offers up to 16 GB of DDR3 RAM, dual onboard Gigabit Ethernet, and up to 4 x 500 GB removable SATA II hard drives. It also supports redundant array of inexpensive disks (RAID) technology, which allows multiple hard drives to be configured for either high-speed data streaming or for data redundancy.

Control of PXI or PXI Express Systems

The RMC-8354 features a x16 Gen 2 PCI Express expansion slot with theoretical maximum bandwidth of 8 GB/s. You can bundle this 19 in. rack-optimized server-class quad-core controller with a complete NI MXI-Express kit for remote control of a PXI or PXI Express system.

The MXI-Express remote control kits are not included with the RMC-8354 and need to be purchased separately.

Better Acoustic Performance

Rack-mount controllers from National Instruments are designed with powerful quad-core processors that typically have high heat dissipation. Using these processors in their specified operating environments requires the controller to provide sufficient air cooling.

The RMC-8354 features a new cooling design that the older-generation NI 8353 rack-mount controllers do not offer. This new design significantly reduces acoustic emissions, making it much quieter during operation than an NI 8353."
