LabVIEW software and the LabVIEW SoftMotion Module deliver graphical development for custom motion control applications. Motion control is offered alongside and in the same environment as machine vision, advanced measurement, and controls tools for native integration and synchronization on all NI controllers across the real-time processor and user-programmable FPGA.

LabVIEW SoftMotion axes are configured, tested, and tuned from the LabVIEW project. You can bind these axes to a wide variety of hardware configurations, from NI C Series drive modules and drive interfaces, to NI EtherCAT slave drives directly from an NI EtherCAT master, to third-party or custom drive electronics through a custom axis plug-in.

Motion applications are built in LabVIEW using either a high-level Express VI API or a property and invoke node API for lower level control. LabVIEW SoftMotion features advanced functions for custom motion application design including trajectory generation, spline interpolation, and multiaxis functionality such as gearing, camming, and coordinate spaces. Low-level motor control IP is also included in LabVIEW SoftMotion for FPGA-based power electronics control design or custom feedback, triggering, or synchronization with I/O.
