Harmonic Distortion Modules
Harmonic distortion can be caused by saturation of supply transformers or by non-linear electrical loads which do not operate with a constant relationship between voltage and current. Two powerful plug-in modules are available - to monitor three-phase voltages up to 600 VAC or to monitor three phase currents up to 300 amps per phase. Both modules record harmonic disturbances when the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of any phase exceeds a user-selectable high limit threshold or when the THD changes by more than the user-selectable sensitivity threshold. The THD disturbance printout includes total harmonic distortion in percentages, the RMS voltage or current at the fundamental (50 or 60 Hz) frequency and the value of each harmonic component (up to the seventh) expressed as a precentage of the fundamental voltage or current.
