Option 224 adds a second internal source with two additional source output ports on the front panel, an internal combiner, mechanical path switches, and rear panel access loops. Options 200, 219 and, 080 are required.
The second internal source is independently tunable and can be used to provide a second stimulus for intermodulation distortion (IMD) testing of amplifiers and for use as a local oscillator (LO) signal for testing conversion loss of mixers and frequency converters. It increases test speed for mixer/converter fixed-IF measurements and amplifier swept-IMD measurements compared to using an external source.
The internal combiner combines RF signals from two internal sources, which simplifies test set-ups for two-tone measurements.
The mechanical path switches and rear access loops (front access loops for the N5247A source 1 out 1 and source 2 out 1) are placed between source and test ports, and provide alternate signal paths with signal conditioning devices or external instruments that enable additional measurements without reconnecting the device under test from the test ports.
