Agilent Technologies, Inc. E4440A-215 External Source Control Measurement Personality

Key Features & Specifications

  • Supports MXG control. Now you can take advantage of MXG, such as measurement speed and cost, when making your scalar network analysis.
  • A variety of sweep modes including standard sweep, harmonic sweep, offset sweep (normal/reverse), and power sweep offer the optimal tools for characterizing different types of components.
  • Wide dynamic range (up to 108.9 dB on Option 215s defaulted setting) allows accurate tests for components with the presence of high and low power levels at the same time.
  • Narrow RBW (up to 1 Hz on manual setting) eliminates the distortions caused by harmonics from swept signal sources when measuring passive devices.
  • One-button normalization and Open/Short calibration further improve the measurement accuracy by removing frequency response errors of the test system.
  • Capability to control Agilent MXG, ESG, or PSG signal generators allows you to do network analysis while maintaining all the benefits of a stand-alone signal generator. Supported Agilent PSG, ESG and MXG model numbers are N5181A, N5182A, N5183A, E4438C, E4428C, E8267D, E8257D, E8267C, E8257C, and E8247C.

Description

The external source control measurement personality (Option 215), empowers the PSA Series high-performance spectrum analyzers with scalar network analysis capability up to 50 GHz.

With Option 215, all the PSA Series models (E4440A/43A/45A/46A/47A/48A) can control Agilent MXG, ESG or PSG signal generators, providing a variety of sweep modes to optimize the stimulus-response measurements required for component characterization. The LAN-to-LAN connection between the PSA and the MXG, ESG or PSG offers simplicity in setting up a test system. The user-friendly interface reduces learning time and operator errors. Outstanding dynamic range on the PSA Series spectrum analyzer allows you to test components with high and low power levels at the same time (Option 215 defaults the network analysis dynamic range up to 108.9 dB). However, you can further improve the dynamic range by trading off the measurement speed. One-button normalization and Open/Short calibration improve the measurement accuracy by removing the systemic frequency response errors incurred in transmission and return loss measurements, respectively.

This option can be added as a product upgrade.
