Description

For those customers in the data secured environment, Option 117 provides them with two levels of data sanitization: secure erase user, and secure erase all.

Secure Erase User erases all the user information present in the PSA. This includes trace data, instrument states, limit lines, screen corrections, and the last state. The erase is accomplished by writing all "1"s into these memory locations, which meets industrial security standards.

Secure Erase All erases all memory in the instrument, including the operating system. After this operation, the instrument does not function. It can be brought to normal functionality via LAN using the firmware upgrade program.

Both Secure Erase User and Secure Erase All comply with DSS criteria per NISPOM Chapter 8 and Clearing and Sanitization Matrix, Rev. June 27, 2005.

Option 117 mounts the PSA read-only files in such a scheme that the following information will be retained after erasing the user accessible data:

  • Measurement personalities
  • License keys
  • LAN settings
  • Last state

This option can be added as a product upgrade.
