Description

Transform the MXG into a flexible noise source

Option 403 enables the creation of real-time, uncorrelated additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN). This real-time mode of operation generates truly uncorrelated noise with a noise bandwidth that can be continuously varied up to 120 MHz.

Combine calibrated AWGN with signals from the MXG

Add noise directly to any arbitrary waveform played back using the MXG internal baseband generator and adjust the noise power precisely with digital accuracy. Also set the noise level directly from the user interface of many Signal Studio signal creation software applications.

Typical application

The calibrated noise option is recommended for flexible standalone AWGN generation, and for setting signal-to-noise ratios directly in the Agilent MXG or with select Signal Studio software. The uncorrelated nature of the test stimulus is ideal for generating noise interference and is especially important for determining receiver performance.

This option can be added as a product upgrade.
