The NI Single-Board RIO General-Purpose Inverter Controller (GPIC) embedded control and acquisition device integrates a real-time processor, a user-configurable FPGA, a full set of I/O for power electronics control, and communication I/O in a small form factor to give you the freedom to design a multifunctional, embedded power electronics control system. It combines an NI sbRIO-9606 embedded controller, featuring a 400 MHz industrial processor and a Xilinx Spartan-6 LX45 FPGA, with an NI 9683 mezzanine card that has a complete set of analog and digital I/O for power electronics control. The NI 9683 is connected to the embedded controller card through a RIO Mezzanine Card connector, which is a high-speed, high-bandwidth connector that provides direct access to the processor and 96 3.3 V digital I/O FPGA lines.

The NI Single-Board RIO GPIC offers a -40 to 70 C operating temperature range along with a 9 to 30 VDC power supply input range. It provides 256 MB of DRAM for embedded operation and 512 MB of nonvolatile memory for storing programs and data logging.

This device provides a built-in 10/100 Mbit/s Ethernet port you can use to conduct programmatic communication over the network and host built-in web (HTTP) and file (FTP) servers. The NI Single-Board RIO GPIC also features integrated CAN, RS232 serial, and USB ports for controlling peripheral devices.

This controller is designed to be easily embedded in high-volume power electronics control applications that require flexibility, reliability, and high performance.

The NI Single-Board RIO GPIC Evaluation Kit features an extended 30-day evaluation of NI LabVIEW graphical system design tools including LabVIEW, the LabVIEW Real-Time Module, the LabVIEW FPGA Module, NI Multisim, and power electronics control and analysis LabVIEW IP libraries with ready-to-run example code for power electronics applications (3-phase inverter, SMPS, solar PV converter with MPPT, advanced motor control). Also included are a PS-2 power supply; 24 VDC, 0.8 A, U.S. 120 VAC with a pigtail connector cable; a complete set of screws and standoffs for mezzanine card support; and two flat cable assemblies.
