The NI PXIe-5667 spectrum monitoring receiver is optimized for radio monitoring, interference detection, spectrum regulation, and related applications in line with ITU recommendations. The receiver covers a frequency range of 30 Hz to 3.6 GHz or 7 GHz with instantaneous bandwidth options of 25 MHz and 50 MHz. The high probability of intercept for small amplitude signals in the presence of large interfering signals stems from the low noise figure (<12 dB) and second harmonic intercept point, which is greater than 80 dB.

This receiver comprises the NI PXIe-5693 preselector module, NI PXIe-5694 IF conditioning module, and NI PXIe-5665 vector signal analyzer. The NI PXIe-5693 features 16 fixed-tuned bandpass filters, each of which is suboctave in bandwidth. In addition, preamplifiers following the preselection filters allow for a low noise figure without compromising distortion performance. The NI PXIe-5603 or NI PXIe-5605 downconverter follows the preselector module. These downconverters feature multiple conversion, superheterodyne architectures that provide exceptional spurious-free performance. When used with the NI PXIe-5603, the NI PXIe-5667 frequency range extends up to 3.6 GHz. When used with the NI PXIe-5605, the system frequency range extends to 7 GHz. The NI PXIe-5694 IF conditioning module adds a wide range of analog filters centered at the final IF to help you balance selectivity and measurement speed. The bandwidth of these IF filters ranges from 30 kHz to 50 MHz. The IF conditioning module is then followed by the 16-bit, 150 MS/s NI PXIe-5622 IF digitizer. Local oscillator (LO) signals and the digitizer reference clock signal are provided by the NI PXIe-5653 LO synthesizer.

A stable calibration signal is located at the input of the preselector module. It enables self-calibration of the entire signal chain to provide a typical system amplitude accuracy of <0.7 dB up to 3.6 GHz. With self-calibration for IF magnitude and phase, you can digitally demodulate signals in addition to the systems inherent spectrum monitoring capability. The NI PXIe-5667 can be configured for a dynamic range of >110 dB and can achieve scan rates of up to 30 GHz/s. You can take advantage of the superior speed to monitor wireless environments for interference signals, illegal transmitters, and surveillance. Additionally, you can use the modular architecture to share the LO signal between receivers. This creates superior phase coherency, which is critical for multichannel applications.
