With the NI PXI-PCI8360 remote controllers, you can control PXI and CompactPCI systems from your PC with a PCI slot by using a fully transparent MXI-Express link connected with copper cabling. The NI PXI-PCI8360 products consist of the PCI-8361 board connected via a MXI-Express cable to the PXI-8360 module in slot 1 of a PXI chassis. These products provide up to 100 MB/s of sustained throughput to the PXI or CompactPCI system.
The PCI-8361 board uses a PCI-to-PCI Express bridge and the PXI-8360 uses a PCI Express-to-PCI bridge. These two products connected together via a x1 MXI Express cable give you the ability to connect a PXI chassis to a PC with PCI slots. This link is transparent to software applications and drivers, so industry-standard desktop computers and servers can control PXI systems with no additional programming. With NI remote controllers, you can use PXI modules as if they are PCI modules directly installed in your computer.
