For measurement of return loss (or VSWR) with a scalar analyzer an autotester is the best solution. An autotester is an RF bridge with a built in detector. An RF bridge needs to be used with a 6230 series detector for the measurement of return loss. An autotester with the correct type and sex of test port connector should be used because test port adapters seriously degrade directivity and hence measurement accuracy.
